I Knocked on Your Door

I knock on your door but you do not open

You come to your window and it’s the wind

You look out and see the sun

I knock on your door but you do not open

You sit at your window and it’s white clouds

You look out but do not see me

I hit the wood of your door again

You come to your window and it’s just a drizzle

You peer but can’t see

I hit your door, over and over

Dark clouds getting closer, falling over

It’s dark and I keep knocking

I try to scream but am choking

I am engulfed by this darkness

Open before it takes me away

You look out and see a shadow

But it’s dark now and fleeting

I fight but I sink

You open your door, you see my door

You knock on mine, I can’t open

Your tears fall harder and harder

You knock my door, am not here

Through my window you see me

At ease now, six feet under.
